Lite Clip Strip and Minleon Universal Clip Install Instructions
Installation Methods
There are several ways to install the permanent base clip for both the Lite Clip Strip and the Minleon Universal Clip, developed both by our team and creative customers. While these methods offer flexibility, we recommend testing a small 5–10 foot section before committing to a full installation. This ensures that the chosen method suits your needs and helps avoid issues like improper placement or poor adhesion.
Glue Installation
This is the most common method, especially for horizontal surfaces, railings, or areas where removal might be necessary. Choose an adhesive compatible with PVC (vinyl)—we’ve found “Goop” and E-6000 to be highly effective. Use a medium-viscosity adhesive that can bond the strip’s inner surface and the mounting area. Surface preparation is key: avoid using glue on peeling, dirty, or loose paint. For vertical or curved surfaces, hold the strip in place with tape until the adhesive sets. Apply adhesive in nickel-sized amounts every 6 inches and at each end of the strip.
Double-Sided 3m Tape
For interior applications, double-sided closed cell foam tape is another option. Tape thickness will vary depending on the mounting surface. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully for best results.
Staples
Stapling is ideal for wooden surfaces and other materials that can accept staples. Use a flush-finish stapler to prevent damaging the strip—pneumatic staplers that countersink staples may cut through the material. For outdoor use, choose galvanized, Monel, or stainless steel staples. Place staples every 6 inches and at the strip ends, alternating sides. If using an Arrow T-50 or similar, ensure you have access to both sides of the strip for proper staple placement. Opt for flat crown staples (¼" to ⅜") rather than rounded ones for better hold.
Screws
Screws can also be used but typically require pre-drilling unless you use self-drilling (“drill point”) screws. Test a few options to determine what works best for your application.
Pop Rivets
These can be used when necessary, following the same 6-inch alternating spacing as staples. Use rivets with large heads to prevent pull-through.
Nails and Tacks
These can be applied similarly to staples. For outdoor installations, use galvanized or weather-resistant materials to prevent corrosion.
